Microsoft Government License Eligibility

In order to license programs in volume from Microsoft as a government agency, the entity must not operate for a profit and either be a federal, state/local, or tribal agency. This encompasses any federal, state, or local government bureau, agency, office, state law-established instrumentality, department, or other entity. Additionally, it includes any state or local entity that is authorized by state laws to make purchases under state contracts. This includes any tribal entity that performs governmental functions and is eligible for U.S. Department of Interior funding and services.

However, even if the organization operates for profit, they could still be eligible. It is necessary, though, that they fit into all of the following criteria:

All revenues/profits go solely to the government and not private shareholders.
The organization is exempt from corporation tax.
The organization gets more than half of its funding from the government, rather than from commercial activities

Why should you choose Office 365?

Office gives access to workflow facilitating applications. It includes such applications as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneNote. Office 365 gives access to all of the functions from any device or location, facilitating document and calendar sharing, use of known applications and company e-mail as well as communication inside the company with the use of instant messaging or video calls.

What’s the difference between Office and Office 365?

The Office 365 service relates to subscription plans that offer access to the latest and most actual versions of applications of the Office family. Office 365 includes Skype for Business, Exchange Online and OneDrive for business as well. Individual Office 365 subscription plans let you install full versions of application such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook on multiple devices – PC or Mac computers and mobile devices. Office 365 users can take advantage of technical support without additional costs. You can also buy Office as a standalone product; in this case, however, if new application functions are introduced, your software will not be updated with them.

Is it possible for 5 people to make use of the 5 Office plans available within one Office 365 license?

This activity is prohibited by the Microsoft license policy. Thanks to OneDrive, team sites or Skype for Business application Office 365 lets you collaborate on documents regardless of your location. For 5 people to collaborate each of them needs to have a separate license for all Office 365 services.

Which Office 365 plan should I choose?

Before a decision is made you need to define your needs in terms of IT infrastructure. If the company already owns an Office license and all you need is the cloud functions (mailbox, OneDrive, team sites, videoconferences etc.), although you should consider the Business Essentials plan. This plan is dedicated to companies that need access to the latest versions of the Office applications and the OneDrive for Business service for document storing and sharing. If you have other needs and expectations, consider choosing a plan that suits them. You can check the plans here. If you're not sure which solution to choose, feel free to contact us!

Which Office applications are included in the Office 365 service?

By deciding to implement Office 365 services you gain access to our latest version of the software. Your subscription gives you the possibility to use Office applications that are always up to date.

What is the maximum number of users for the Office 365 service?

The Business Essentials, Business and Business Premium plans can be used by a maximum of 300 users. If your company employs more people or you are planning on increasing their number please consider the Enterprise E1, ProPlus or Enterprise E3 plans. These plan have no user limits.

How can I pay?

You can pay for the Office 365 service with all available credit cards. The payments can be adapted to suit individual needs on a monthly or annual basis.

When can I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription at any time. In the case of a monthly plan the client will not suffer any costs, but in the case of an annual plan the client shall not be reimbursed for the costs incurred by a paid annual plan.

What happens to the data after a subscription is cancelled?

When a user cancels their subscription they are able to download and save their data in another chosen location. Data remains available through a limited function account for 90 days.

Can I change my plan?

To expand your plan you need to transfer your account to a different plan. In most cases you can use the Switch plans wizard in your administration panel. In the case of subscriptions with an unlimited number of users or using a prepaid card to pay for a plan, the plans have to be switched manually. During plan switching your domain name is transferred to a new account.

Can I mix different Office 365 plans?

You can mix Office 365 plans. This, however, may lead to licensing limitations at the plan level.

I already own a domain name. What should I do?

If you already own a domain name you can add it to the Office 365 service and create domain-named email addresses.

Do I need an Internet connection to work with Office 365?

There is no need to be connected to the Internet to use Office applications that are installed and activated on your devices. Internet access is required during the installation and activation process, update installation and while managing subscription settings. The use of cloud services (e.g. email) also requires Internet access.

Will my trial information and settings be transferred to the Office 365 subscription?

If the subscription includes the same number of accounts, your information and settings will not change. You need to purchase Office 365 within 30 days following trial version expiry.
